Swollen rivers and fallen trees as heavy rain lashes us

These were just some of the scenes people in Maidstone woke up to this morning.

A tree is lying in the middle of the river Medway, coming to a rest at the bridge, which is part of Maidstone gyratory road system.

The swollen river itself has claimed part of the footpath near the Kentish Lady mooring.

And drivers who parked up in Hart Street, near the Lockmeadow Cinema complex, might get wet feet retrieving their motors.

While the river at this stretch of town has not yet flooded, heavy rain falling into a gulley in the road has caused this rather large puddle (below.)

Drivers are also being advised to avoid The Square in Hadlow this morning, as the A26 is closed in both directions due to a fallen tree and roadworks at Court Lane.

Are you affected by flooding and heavy rain in the Maidstone, Malling or Weald areas. Contact us at messengernews@thekmgroup.co.uk with any pictures.
