Police have cordoned off a street for around three hours as they rushed to a fight which erupted between two people.

Residents in Camden Street, Maidstone, a small pedestrianised road, were door knocked by officers this evening, who revealed there had been a disturbance and blood had been left on the floor.

A Kent Police spokesman said the call came in around 6.30pm to the incident which involved people known to each other.

One person living nearby said: "There were two police cars at one end of the street and an ambulance at the other side. The ambulance left and there was what looked to be a plain-clothed officer and a forensics van.

"They were bagging up clothes and some other bits in paper bags in the middle of the street

"Police knocked on everyone’s door, they said there had been some kind of fight and there was blood on the floor."

An update from police this morning revealed officers were called after reports emerged a man in his 30s was assaulted by two men.

Police think the pair were known to the victim, who had to be taken to hospital.

A spokesman for the force said: "Nobody has been arrested at this stage and enquiries are ongoing.
