A police pursuit along a busy stretch of motorway ended in three arrests on Saturday evening.

A 28-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both from London, and a second woman, aged 45, from Hertfordshire, were arrested on suspicion of theft after their car was brought to a stop by specially trained officers.

The vehicle was boxed off by pursuing cars on the M20 London bound carriageway at junction 6 at about 5.50pm.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "The arrests are in connection with the attempted theft of items from a business in Sandgate Road, Folkestone, at 4.18pm the same day, and the theft of items from a business in King Street, Maidstone, in February.

"A large amount of property was discovered in the boot of the vehicle and has been seized for evidence."

All three remain in custody.
