A driver will appear in court after police in Tonbridge carried out speed checks.

Yesterday, officers from the Tonbridge and Malling neighbourhood policing team carried out the checks in Brook Street, Shipbourne Road, and The Ridgeway.

Three drivers were issued with a fine of £60 for driving over the speed limit and a 34 year-old man from Tonbridge was summoned to court for driving without tax; without a valid MOT certificate and for not wearing a seatbelt.

Sgt Nick Finnis said: “The officers who conducted these checks came in early to make sure they were in the right place at the right time, and we got some positive results. We dealt with four drivers for traffic offences and residents came out to thank the officers for the work they were doing.

"Speeding is dangerous and we will be carrying out further checks in various locations to ensure that people who are using the roads are doing so safely and legally.”
