People taken to Medway Maritime Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital, Pembury, after A249 crash at Detling

Three people were taken to hospital after a crash that closed Detling Hill yesterday evening, it has been revealed this morning.

A woman in her 50s, who was driving one of the vehicles that crashed, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham suffering neck pain, an ambulance service spokesman said.

A man in his 50s was taken to the same hospital with a chest injury.

A vehicle has overturned

A further patient was taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital, Pembury, but the ambulance service was unable to provide any more details about that person.

The Sittingbourne-bound carriageway was closed between 4pm and just after 6pm last night after a Ford Transit and a Renault Scenic collided and the van overturned.

One man had to be cut free from his vehicle by firefighters.
