Maidstone pensioners had a pleasant surprise when they were visited by a group of toddlers.

To mark the start of a new monthly coffee morning at Caremark, West Kent Befriending Service organised by two to four-year-olds to pay a visit.

Service manager Wendy Pfeiffer said: "It was absolutely amazing

"I was giving everyone clues about who the surprise visitor would be.

"I said they come in all shapes and sizes, you can learn from each other and they may want to sit in your lap. They thought a dog was coming.

"We had six children altogether, they were straight in blowing and popping bubbles with our members.

"A lot of older people miss out on seeing their grandchildren because of distance or family breakdown.

"This was a great time for our oldies to spend sometime with toddler sand they loved it.

"The team at Caremark were really helpful, they've arranged everything so we don't have to pay to use the building."

The new monthly coffee morning takes place at Caremark in County Road on the third Monday of every month.

It lasts from 10.30am to 12pm and each morning will have its own surprise visitor.
