Railway trespasser causes train delays between Strood and Maidstone

A person on the railway line caused train delays this afternoon.

Just before 3.30pm power to lines in the Aylesford area were switched off stopping trains from running between Strood and Maidstone.

In a tweet Southeastern Railway said: "The trespasser has been removed from the line and power has been restored.

"Trains should be on the move shortly; there may be some delays and alterations while we work to return the service to normal."

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Police were called to the line near Aylesford railway station at 3.01pm today following concerns for the welfare of a man.

"Officers attended and conducted a thorough search of the area, however no one was located."
