One of the most wanted Polish criminals who was feared to be hiding in Kent has been arrested.

Janusz Kedziora, who has 10 years imprisonment to serve for a string of violent robberies and other offences in his native country, was arrested at 1pm today.

One of his attacks saw tear gas used on a man who was robbed of his mobile phone while another left a man with broken teeth after he was robbed of beer.

A public plea to find him was issued by police and Crimestoppers at midnight and he was arrested in Waltham Forest on a European Arrest Warrant this afternoon.

Kedziora is currently in custody at a police station in east London and is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court for an extradition hearing, on a date to be confirmed.

The 28-year-old has links to Maidstone and it was thought that he could be staying in the county town.

Det Sgt Peter Rance, from the extradition unit, said: “We believe he is dangerous, so taking him out of our community and putting him before the courts is of paramount importance."

Kedziora is also known as Michal Krawczyk.

In March 2005 he carried out five robberies and one attempted robbery with some accomplices.

One of these offences saw a man have his teeth broken while he was being robbed of beer.

In February 2007 he burgled a restaurant with a juvenile and escaped with money and alcohol.

They also attempted to break into a shop and later that month, he and an accomplice punched and kicked a man, leaving him with a broken nose.

In April 2007, Kedziora and a number of others attacked three people on separate occasions, robbing two of them and trying to rob another.

One of these robberies saw a man attacked with tear gas before being punched and kicked him.

They then stole his mobile phone and cash.

Kedziora’s sentence also includes time for damaging and stealing from motor vehicles.

Police and Crimestoppers are now appealing for any information that can lead to his arrest.
