Residents have been warned about suspected rogue traders operating in the Maidstone area.

At 9.20am last Friday, two men are reported to have visited an address in Park Way, Coxheath, where one of them started to clear gutters without asking the occupants if they wanted the work completed.

The residents decided to pay as they had already started the work.

At around 2pm on Monday, four men are reported to have visited an address in Lenham High Street and started gardening work the owner had not requested.

The men demanded more than £1,000 in cash, and the resident left to go to the bank.

No money was subsequently paid, and the men left the scene in a yellow van with a white cab.

One was said to have a Welsh accent, another had a foreign accent, and the other two could not speak English.

Another similar incident was reported in Oxford Gardens, Shepway, around 2.45pm on Tuesday.

Two men were said to be knocking on doors without prior arrangement, offering to check doors and windows to see if they needed upgrading.

Both are described as white, in their late 20s to early 30s, with large builds. One had light ginger hair, and the other had short dark hair.

Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to call police on 01622 604100 quoting 9-648.

Alternatively, call Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
