Households were left without water overnight after a road collapsed.

People in Leeds village, Maidstone, woke on Saturday morning to discover their taps were not working because of a burst water main.

It's believed engineers from South East Water were repairing the leak in Upper Street when part of the road collapsed at about 6pm.

The water firm said bottles of water were delivered to affected homes, including those in Burgess Hall Drive, until the supply was restored on Sunday morning.

The road remains closed today.

Diversions are in place via the Sutton Road and the A20 Ashford Road.

Traffic from Leeds Castle's fireworks display was diverted along Burbridge Lane on Saturday and Sunday.
