Organiser and visitors hoping to see the iconic Red Arrows will be keeping an eye on the weather after the first display had to be curtailed.

The famous display was meant to open the Battle of Britain Airshow at Headcorn, near Maidstone, at around 1.15pm yesterday but wasn't able to due to poor weather conditions.

The Red Arrows will hopefully be a fitting finale to the Battle of Britain airshow

The Royal Air Forces' aerobatic team did fly over the site, but were overshadowed by clouds and unable to perform their famous routine.

However, some fans will get a second to watch the famous display at the same event tomorrow.

The Red Arrows are scheduled to fly overhead at 4pm in what will be their first display since July 2019 when they performed at the Royal International Air Tattoo.

But those attending will need to keep their fingers crossed.

The Met Office forecast for Maidstone tomorrow has cloudy skies until 5pm when it predicts rain for the rest of the day.

The Battle of Britain Airshow - the only one its kind to go ahead last year in the country - will also feature a spectacular Diamond Nine of Spitfires. It will be the first time the formation has been seen at the three-day show.

Speaking prior to the weekend, squadron leader Tom Bould said: “I feel incredibly honoured to have led the team to this point and to now have the opportunity to present a new show.”

Mr Bould will be hoping Sunday is the lucky day for him and his team to once again wow the crowds.
