The Kent Messenger is backing our local football club every step of the way - and today marks another significant step in our partnership.

Maidstone will run out in Kent Messenger-sponsored shirts for the rest of this season as we share the dream of getting the club back to the County Town.

And to kick-off our partnership, it's family day at Homelands tomorrow (Saturday), when Maidstone host Wealdstone in the Ryman League Premier Division.

We're encouraging as many people as possible to come and back the Stones - and there's a voucher in this week's paper to allow all under-16s to watch the game for free.

We've always been behind the club's plans to bring the team home after years in exile at Dartford, Sittingbourne and Ashford.

So we're looking forward to following them on their ambitious £1.6m redevelopment of Whatman Way and a community-led home for their 32 teams, covering the full spectrum of society.

Kent Messenger editor Bob Bounds said: "We are delighted to be fully backing the Stones in their bid to come back to Maidstone.

"We share the dream of watching our home team play where they belong - in Maidstone. That dream is now a tantalising reality if the whole community gets behind the club to make it happen."
