Alina Korosteliova, from Quarry Road, Maidstone, charged after assault in the Broadway, Maidstone

A woman has been charged following an assault in Maidstone last night.

Alina Korosteliova, from Quarry Road, Maidstone, was arrested after an attack in the Broadway at around 6pm.

The 31-year-old, who allegedly punched a man in the face, has today been charged with assault and using threatening and abusive behaviour.

Korosteliova is due to appear at Chatham Magistrates' Court and is not thought to be known to the victim.

Reports at the time suggested there was an attempt to grab a young boy but police have confirmed they are not treating it as a child snatching case.

Police are also investigating reports a man began attacking an ambulance at the scene, causing damage to it. No one has been arrested in connection with the allegation.

Police have also confirmed a separate incident in South Park, on Armstrong Road, where a man was spotted acting suspiciously yesterday morning, was investigated.

Officers attended the scene after a call from two 12-year-old girls and searched the area.

The suspect did not interact with anyone in the park and no one was arrested.
