Tommy Warrilow says facing St Albans in the FA Trophy first round next month is the perfect chance to make amends for their FA Cup exit against the Southern League outfit last month.

Ryan Watts’ 57th-minute goal clinched a 1-0 win at AFC Sudbury in Tuesday night’s third qualifying round replay in Suffolk to set up the re-match with St Albans.

Boss Warrilow admitted: “The St Albans defeat hurt us a lot but we are at home this time and it gives us an opportunity to rectify what happened.”

Warrilow made four changes in midweek, following the 1-1 draw in the competition against Sudbury at Longmead last Saturday.Substitute James Baker’s 88th-minute equaliser kept the Ryman League, Division 1 North visitors’ hopes alive, after they trailed to Shamir Goodwin’s early strike.

The Angels boss dropped experienced keeper Clark Masters in favour of 20-year-old local boy Lewis Carey and the former Bristol City youngster did well on his debut.

Warrilow said: “I wasn’t singling out Clark, I also left out Henry Muggeridge, David Ajiah and Luke Blewden and believe that with the squad we have got, whatever final 11 I put out won’t weaken us as a side."
