A new stand behind the goal at the Gallagher Stadium would cost about £1million and be ready in time for the 2015-16 season, Maidstone co-owner Oliver Ash has revealed.

United are preparing to apply for planning permission to build at the north end of the ground.

The stand would include 600 seats - the first of about six rows built at a height of 2.5metres - and terracing at the front.

Plans are also set to include a bar, community room and a VIP lounge.

Co-owner Mr Ash said: "We're preparing to apply for planning permission and are going through the process of getting everything ship-shape.

"Provisionally we would be looking to develop during the course of next season or the end of next season, so it would be ready in time for 2015-16.

"It's an interesting project but it's subject to planning permission and having the funding in place. We think it would cost roughly £1million.

"It would bring our capacity to 3,000 and serve the demand for extra seating at the stadium.

"It's a good design with the first row of seats at 2.5m.

"The problem with watching football behind the goal is you don't get a very good perspective but the high vantage point would change that."
