Aylesford promotion winners Florence Williams and Heike Niemand have received international call-ups.

Scrum-half Williams, 18, has been picked by England under-20s for next month’s Nations Cup in Nottingham. The round-robin tournament includes matches against Canada, America and South Africa.

Williams, who can also play fly-half, came through the girls’ section at Aylesford.

Former Tonbridge full-back Niemand, 22, is in the Great Britain sevens squad for the World University Games in Russia next month.

Niemand, who scored the try that clinched Bulls ladies’ promotion to the Premiership, previously played rugby league for England students.

Bulls coach Max Melville-Brown said: “They’re both young but they’ve been playing for such a long time already and are rugby through and through.

“Flo played twice for England under-20s last year and made the squad again after re-trialling.

“Heike’s GB call-up came a little out of the blue. She initially trialled for England sevens but didn’t make it. She missed the GB trials but had already done enough with England to get selected.

“It’s good for the club, too, especially now we’re in the Premiership. They're the sort of players we’re looking to keep hold of and attract.”
