Maidstone v Chelmsford

MAIDSTONE face two vital matches over Easter as their bid to retain Ryman League, Premier Division status moves into its final month.

Joint-boss Alan Walker has already labelled Stones’ remaining seven fixtures "cup finals" as they prepare to face champions-elect Chelmsford tomorrow (Saturday), followed by a trip to strugglers East Thurrock 48 hours later.

Walker said: "I have seen Chelmsford a few times this season and they are probably the best team in the league, but they pay big wages, so are entitled to be.

"There are two divisions in this league as far as money is concerned. They are right at the top and can attract the best players by paying the best bonuses."

Maidstone were thrashed 7-0 when the two teams met last August, the culmination of an horrendous opening week of the season, which saw them concede 13 goals.

Mark Saunders is Stones’ main injury concern after being in the wars at Harlow last week, damaging his thumb and also suffering a cut head.
