Maidstone United have signed Dover Athletic's former Brighton & Hove Albion stiker Nathan Elder on a one-month loan deal

Maidstone United have signed stiker Nathan Elder from Dover Athletic on a one-month loan deal.

The 29-year-old arrived at Crabble in the summer of 2013 after a season at Ebbsfleet United but despite scoring the only goal of the game against his former club in the Conference South play-off final last May, he has only scored once in 11 appearances this season for the Vanarama Conference side.

The 6’3” frontman came through the non-league ranks in Essex before earning a move to Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2007, though he only made three first-team appearances and moved to Brentford a year later before signing for Shrewsbury at the end of that season.

Further spells at AFC Wimbledon, Hereford and Hayes & Yeading followed before Elder arrived at Stonebridge Road in July 2012 where he scored 15 goals in the Conference during Fleet’s relegation campaign.

He joins a Stones side sat three points behind Ryman League Premier Division leaders Margate, with three games in hand, but on a run of four straight 1-1 draws.

Elder could make his Stones debut in the league game at Canvey Island on Saturday (3pm).
