Hever Castle’s Paul Endicott came out on top to win the Kent County Playing Fields Association’s 66th Cecil Leitch 5 Club Final - but it couldn’t have been much closer.

Endicott (h15) claimed victory in this year’s men’s competition at Faversham Golf Club on countback with a score of 40 points after a three-way tie with Jim Richards (h17, Canterbury GC) and William Hayes (h24, Westerham GC).

Nearest the pin on the 16th hole was Scott Whyte of Marriott Tudor Park and the longest drive on the 12th hole was from Ben Anderson of Faversham.

The ladies’ winner was Wrotham Heath’s Wendy Skiller (h27) - but again on countback after Westerham’s Amanda Sendall (h27) also scored 39 points.

Carrie Beech (h20, Upchurch) was third with 37 points. She took the nearest-the-pin honours on the 16th. The longest drive was at the 18th from Ashford’s Janet James.

Wendy Skiller is all smiles with Faversham president Pam Bentley

Secretary of the KCPFA Paul Peacock said: “Our thanks go to the committee and all officials and members of Faversham Golf Club, including Paul Smith, club manager, and all officials for allowing the KCPFA to use their course and to club captain Nick Sage and club president Pam Bentley for attending and presenting prizes to all winners.

“A special mention to Rob Clark, head green keeper who presented the golf course in immaculate condition. Finally, a big thank-you to Kevin Riley, head chef, and Jo Hadley and all her staff who looked after us and all finalists on the day.”
