Maidstone are ready to show Eastleigh their minds are firmly on the National League.

The Stones, with an FA Cup second-round tie against Oldham to come this weekend, asked the Spitfires if they could rearrange tonight's match.

It had league backing but Eastleigh, unsurprisingly, insisted the game go ahead.

Stones boss Harry Wheeler said: "We're not going to get distracted by the FA Cup. We'll concentrate on Tuesday.

"I know Eastleigh think we'll be distracted and that's why they're making us play it when some other teams aren't but that'll be part of our team-talk on Tuesday night."

Eastleigh's decision could end up backfiring on the visitors as Maidstone are desperate to get Saturday's 5-2 defeat at Havant out of their system.

Wheeler said: "It's a big game. It's nice to have a game quite quickly round the corner.

"We don't wait to wait two weeks for a league game.

"It's quite crucial that we get something on Tuesday night and mainly that we give the fans something back."

Jack Paxman serves a one-match ban after picking up his fifth booking but Elliott Romain is free to play after United won their appeal against his red card at Havant.
