Maidstone are set to face two of their Ryman League title-winners over the Bank Holiday weekend.

United will be up against right-back Craig Stone when they travel to Eastbourne Borough in National League South on Saturday.

Then striker Billy Bricknell will be back at the Gallagher Stadium with Chelmsford on Monday. Both matches kick off at 3pm.

Stone finished last season on loan from Dover as Maidstone won the Ryman League Premier Division.

Maidstone worked hard to sign Bricknell from Ebbsfleet but agreed to release the striker from his contract, which still had a year to run, to allow him to find a club closer to his Essex home.

Saunders said: “You never want to lose good players and it was a shame Bill couldn’t stay.

“He didn’t get the goals people expected, but sometimes that happens when you go to a new club and he came in at a difficult time.

“He still scored important goals against Harrow and Margate. He played a big part in getting us promoted."
