Six Kent gymnasts will battle for medals at next month's Commonwealth Games after Team England confirmed their 13-strong squad for Birmingham.

James Hall, Courtney Tulloch and Giarnni Regini-Moran have been picked for the men's artistic squad, Georgia-Mae Fenton is included in the women's five-strong artistic team and Saffron Severn and Marfa Ekimova will represent England in the rhythmic gynmastics event.

Hall, from Maidstone, will be taking part in his second Commonwealth Games having helped England to their first gold medal Down Under four years ago in the team event.

He added two individual silvers in the all-round final and horizontal bar but a medal on home soil would top the lot.

“I think home Games has just got a ring to it, it’s exciting and going to be great in Birmingham," he said.

"We’ve got a lot of people in the team from Birmingham and it’s exciting. For the opportunity to Bring it Home and win gold for the home nation is absolutely massive and if we can do it would be a dream come true.”

Hall's former Pegasus Gymnastics Club team-mate and double Commonwealth gold medallist Tulloch will also be appearing in his second Games, while Tokyo 2020 Olympian Regini-Moran, from Gravesend, will make his Games debut in Birmingham.

Fenton, also from Gravesend, goes into the competition as reigning bars champion, while Severn, from Sidcup, will join up with Welling's British champion Ekimova alongside Alice Leaper for the rhythmic discipline - the trio competing for the first time in a major multisport event.

Team England’s Chef de Mission, Mark England OBE, said: “I am delighted to welcome our 13 gymnasts for the Games this summer; and [it's] always special to welcome returning gymnasts to represent Team England for their second Commonwealth Games. I’m excited to see them compete on home soil.”

The gymnastics events take place at Arena Birmingham from Friday July 29 to Saturday August 6.
