Maidstone Ladies Hockey Club face the prospect of relegation from Slazenger EHL Women's Conference East after a heart-breaking last-gasp home defeat to St Albans on Sunday.

The only goal of the game came from Sarah Embrey in the final minute, leaving Maidstone rock bottom with only five points from 15 matches.

Maidstone travel to fourth-placed Southgate this weekend, but need to win their final three matches to stand any chance of getting out of the bottom two.

Next-to-bottom Staines have 11 points,with Sevenoaks the side above them, already out of Maidstone's reach, on 15.
