Maidstone boss Alan Walker

Leyton v Maidstone United

MAIDSTONE United boss Alan Walker is chasing two new signings ahead of the Ryman League, Premier Division trip to bottom club Leyton on Saturday.

Walker refused to reveal who they are in case he alerted other clubs but one is believed to be a striker.

He said: "I am waiting for a phone call and am 99 per cent sure that we will bring one in but the player concerned has had an injury and I don’t think he will be ready for the weekend.

"We are also want to do another deal but don’t want to say too much because I know other people are trying to do the same thing."

He also hinted that might not be the end of United’s dealings in the transfer market.

"We have to bring people in and are looking at totally rebuilding the squad. The players have had a long time to show they are good enough to play at this level and a half a dozen of the squad haven’t shown the desire and application required.

"The clock has been ticking, and has now almost reached full-time."

Conor Hagan is available after suspension but Robert Owen is still sidelined with a hamstring inury.
