Ebbsfleet United boss Daryl McMahon on the 2-1 win at Maidstone United

Daryl McMahon dedicated Ebbsfleet's derby win at Maidstone to the travelling supporters.

Fleet won 2-1 at the Gallagher Stadium where more than 400 Fleet fans helped generate a terrific atmosphere under the roof of the big North Stand.

Victory meant they completed the double over the Stones following a 2-0 triumph at Stonebridge Road in August.

"It's brilliant for the fans," McMahon said. "I always say derby games are for the fans, especially the ones that travelled to Bromley and had the disappointment on Saturday of losing at home to Chester.

"To come here tonight, I'm sure they've gone away buzzing and that's for them.

"With the ball, I thought we were very good, dominating the ball and we were definitely better in both boxes which we needed to be after the last two performances and I thought it was a fully deserved three points for us."

This was Fleet's first win of 2018 after back-to-back defeats against Bromley and Chester.

"It happens," McMahon said. "I don't get carried away with winning and losing, I think the performance is important and the performance tonight was excellent, across the board, the 11 who started and the lads who came on, all of them."

Midfielder Jack Powell scored both goals to take his season's tally to nine.

McMahon said: "I thought both his finishes were terrific. For the first one, his touch wasn't the best, under his feet and he managed, with no back lift, to get it through the lad's legs and into the corner.

"He's learning, he's improving, he's building on what he did last year, he's getting better every game and he was ill tonight as well. He's been excellent so far and I expect him to keep improving and kicking on. He's a very talented player."
