HUME: says six players let the club down against Wealdstone

AFC Hornchurch v Maidstone

ANGRY Maidstone joint-manager Lloyd Hume has vowed to make changes for the trip to AFC Hornchurch on Saturday.

The Stones' relegation fears deepened after a 2-1 Ryman League Premier Division defeat at fellow strugglers Wealdstone on Tuesday.

Hume accused six players of letting the club down. He refused to name names but said: "Who they were will remain private, but I pointed out a few home truths in the dressing room afterwards, and said there will be changes at the weekend.

"They lacked quality, understanding of their jobs and the situation we find ourselves in. I don't think they are taking it as seriously as I am.

"I thought we were unlucky not to draw against Margate, and their manager Robin Trott said it would have been a fair result, but we weren't against Wealdstone."

New signings Mark Saunders is set for his Stones debut, defender Chris Smalling is unavailable on Saturday, as he is playing for England Schoolboys, and keeper Steve Northwood will replace the injured Pat Mullin.
