ALAN WALKER has warned his players about their discipline after Maidstone United picked up their sixth and seventh red cards of the season in the 2-1 defeat at Cray Wanderers on Tuesday night.

The Stones’ joint-manager said that he thought his team had been unlucky with refereeing decisions - with five of the seven red cards "contentious" in his book - but admitted it was a problem.

He said: "We’ve had some bad decisions this season but the players have got to start being more careful with referees. We are making it hard for ourselves when we get players sent off. And then we end up missing players through suspensions.

"We’ve had a word with the players and told them anyone getting booked for dissent will be fined a week’s wages. I don’t mind anyone getting booked trying to make an honest tackle, but getting booked for arguing with the referee is just pointless."

Stones return to Ryman league Premier Division action with a home game against Tonbridge Angels on Saturday.
