Maidstone have signed National League-winning left-back George McLennan after a successful trial.

United have been looking to fill the void left by Joe Anderson’s release and, in McLennan, they have found their man.

The 22-year-old won the the league with Cheltenham two years ago before a brief spell at Sutton.

He finished last season with local club Ashford in Bostik South but it’s time to move back up to non-league’s top flight.

Stones boss Jay Saunders said: “George is someone I was aware of and to be honest I have been really impressed with him over the last couple of sessions.

"He’s a local lad and he had a really good end to the season with Ashford.

“Previously he’s won this league with Cheltenham, so he’s got experience as well and still only 22.

“For me he ticks a lot of boxes – a good size, a good age and will be a great addition to the squad.”
