Fabio Saraiva scored the first hat-trick of his career as Maidstone United regained top spot in the Ryman League Premier Division on Tuesday night.

Saraiva's treble helped United win 4-2 at Wingate & Finchley, a result that puts them a point clear of second-placed Wealdstone.

The visitors threatened to make hard work of it after blowing a two-goal lead before regaining control.

Frannie Collin opened the scoring on six minutes, with Saraiva on target 12 minutes later.

Goals either side of half-time from Ola Solbanmu levelled the match but Saraiva restored Stones' advantage on 65 minutes and completed his hat-trick with a late penalty.

Saraiva said: "I'm over the moon because I've never scored a hat-trick in my career and it was a first for me.

"We started the game well and were all over them.

"We let them back into it but grinded it out in the end and it's put us top of the table."
