Harlow v Maidstone

MAIDSTONE UNITED joint-boss Alan Walker has hailed the signing of former Arsenal midfielder Ian Selley as major coup for the club.

Selley, 34 in June, a member of the Gunners squad who lifted the European Cup Winners Cup in 1994, joined the Stones after securing his release from Blue Square Premier side Grays Athletic.

Walker said: "I didn't know Ian was available until chairman Mick Woodward told me when I was talking to him about another player.

"We had to work hard to bring him here, because he was full-time at Grays, but has come to us on part time-wages. He's here for the rest of this season, and hopefully next, if we stay up."

Selley's arrival followed the signing of ex-Gillingham midfielder Mark Saunders, and former QPR youngster, 20-year old defender Marc Clary from Ryman League North side Tilbury.

Goalkeeper Steve Northwood keeps his place in the side this weekend, while Stones have extended striker Jacob Erskine's loan move from League 2 side Dagenham & Redbridge for another month.
