Kent gymnasts Courtney Tulloch and James Hall have been selected for next month’s European Championships in Glasgow.

They came through trials to earn their place in the Great Britain squad, which was announced this morning.

It’s the next big competition for the pair, who starred at the Commonwealth Games in Australia in April, bringing home three medals each.

Ionut Trandaburu, their coach at Pegasus Gymnastics Club in Maidstone, will also be working with the GB team at the championships.

The gymnasts are determined to build on their success on the Gold Coast.

Tulloch said: “From such a high, you’re almost going into another competition on that high.

“I want to move on from the Commonwealths, even though it was such an amazing experience, the best of my life, and focus on the Europeans because it’s going to be even harder.

“The team’s feeling good, everyone’s looking good in training and we all want to continue that success in Glasgow.

“It will be my first home-crowd competition and it’s going to be a big one. I can’t wait.”

Hall said: “Everyone’s gone back to the gym and worked hard since the Commonwealths.

“No one’s slacked off, even the guys who didn’t make it, they wanted to get on the team this time, so it’s an exciting prospect and it makes it that little bit harder to make teams now.

“At the moment it’s just one comp after another.

“It’s tiring but when you think about going to the Europeans or World Championships, it’s so, so exciting.

“The only feeling to match getting selected is getting a medal.”
