Murty McGrath, who trains on the Gallagher Farms Estate in Maidstone, had two winners within an hour of each other at Exeter racecourse.

Another of his horses, Ragstone Road, won on the flat at Chelmsford a fortnight earlier, so it’s been a great spell for McGrath who only trains eight horses.

Who Won What When, a five-year-old mare bought for just £1,500 by Richard Gallagher, won the maiden hurdle at Exeter.

And Sei Bella, a six-year-old mare bred by McGrath, won a novice hurdle. Joshua Moore rode both winners.

Ragstone Road is owned by Richard’s father, Pat.

He’d been out injured for more than two years so to return to racing with a 40/1 win was a nice surprise for the team.

Richard Gallagher, general manager of Gallagher Farms, said: “Given the difficult year we’ve all had with Covid, anything that puts a smile on people’s faces is great.

“Having three of our horses winning is a real tonic. Murty and the team can be very proud and results like this make all the hard work worthwhile.”
