Maidstone captain Steve Watt is a doubt for Saturday's Ryman League Premier Division game at Lewes.

Jamie Coyle is in line to deputise for the trip to the Dripping Pan, with the Rooks struggling near the foot of the table despite being among the pre-season promotion favourites.

However Stones boss Jay Saunders is reading nothing into their poor start.

He said: “I know Lewes are close to signing a couple of players from higher leagues. It’ll be a hard game. I like Luke Blewden up front and they’ve got some threats.

“They’ve got a couple of players I spoke to in the summer as well.

“We didn’t do too well down there last season and we want to put that right.”
