An all-white squirrel was spotted scurrying about a West Malling residential area today.

The rare sighting was captured by Jay and Paige Speller on the balcony of their property in Wills Crescent, Leybourne Chase, earlier this morning.

The couple discovered the ghostly-looking creature at around 7.45am.

The apparently albino squirrel scuttles down a tree

It's not known if the creature was white - which is caused by a loss of pigmentation - or albino which occurs through a gene disorder characterised by by little or no production of melanin, because it wasn't hanging around to pose for pictures.

White squirrels with the former condition have dark eyes and the latter have pink peepers.
