Police and paramedics gather outside Tesco in Leybourne Way near lakes in Aylesford

Police and paramedics are at Leybourne Lakes this morning amid reports a body was in the water.

A cordon has been raised, with police parked up outside Tesco in Leybourne Way, New Hythe, near Aylesford.

One person, who asked to remain anonymous said: "I looked out my window and I could see what looked like a body floating in the water.

"Every one is shocked. It's not something you expect to see every day."

One witness said he had been told it was in relation to a person who had been previously reported missing.

A Kent Police spokesman: "Officers are currently at Leybourne Lakes as part of our inquiries to locate a missing person."
