Out of control bonfire in Fatherwell Avenue, West Malling

Firefighters were called after a bonfire became out of control.

Two fire engines attended and crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames in Fatherwell Avenue, West Malling last night, before cooling down the surrounding area.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was there for an hour and a half.

No casualties were reported.

The current advice is to not have bonfires, but if you do choose to have one, please do so safely. They should be lit well away from any buildings, trees and fences.

It is also best to inform your neighbours in advance to avoid any concern.
