A woman who duped a vulnerable man into giving her almost £300 has been convicted of fraud.

Wanthana Ayres arrived at Brian Phillips’ Snodland home in January and claimed to be his carer.

When Mr Phillips let her in to his Simpson Road flat Ayres told him she needed money for rent and convinced him to drive her to a cash machine and withdraw £260.

White Lodge care home was rated 'good' in all categories last October

The victim then gave Ayres the cash and drove the 37-year-old to her home in Goodwood Close, Rochester.

Appearing at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court last week Ayres admitted fraud by false representation.

She was ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. She must also pay £260 compensation, £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
