Fire crews were called to reports of a potential blaze at a garden centre this morning – but it turned out to be a false alarm.

Two fire engines attended Millbrook garden centre in Marden, which is home to the greencafe, shortly before midday.

A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) said: “Crews were called at 11.54am to reports of a smoke alarm sounding at a garden centre off Staplehurst Road.

“Two fire engines were sent to the premises, however, it was a false alarm.”

Crews left the scene at 12.22pm.

Millbrook, which opened its Staplehurst branch in 2013 and has a second branch in Southfleet near Gravesend, was approached for comment.
