A tonne of paper was destroyed after a fire broke out at a mill in Snodland this morning.

Five engines raced to the Smurfit Kappa Townsend Hook site in Mill Street at 8.41am, after the blaze started in a machine.

It was quickly brought under control thanks to the company's sprinkler system and by crews using breathing apparatus, and hose reel jets.
