Firefighters called to flat blaze in Leybourne, near West Malling

Firefighters were called to a flat blaze where a dog reportedly died yesterday.

The incident occurred at 12.41pm on Hawley Drive in Leybourne, near West Malling.

Two fire engines attended and when firefighters arrived they saw smoke coming from the ground floor of the building.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus put out the flames using hose reel jets, a covering jet and water from a local hydrant.

They then cleared the property of smoke with a high pressure fan and the incident ended at 2.18pm.

The exact cause has not yet be confirmed, and the volunteer response team also in attended.
