A man has been arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit after a crash left a woman with serious injuries this afternoon.

Road closures are in place between Gibson Drive, Kings Hill, and the roundabout for Tonbridge Road, Mereworth, following the smash between a car and a van on the A228 Malling Road at 3.15pm.

Police, the South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance were called to the scene.

The man arrested has also been taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers remain at the scene, conducting inquiries.
