A road here? No thanks, say residents

The controversial issue of Trenport’s “greenway” - linking the company’s new Peters Village development at Wouldham with the existing village, will be up for discussion again next week.

The company is due to make a presentation to Wouldham Parish Council at its meeting on Tuesday about the details of the first tranche of houses it wants to build on the old cement works site - 1,000 new homes are eventually planned.

However, villagers will also be present to hand in a petition of 450 signatures demanding the Greenway be closed to vehicular traffic.

Resident Gill Goode said: “Tonbridge and Malling planning officers and Trenport keep saying that villagers want the road open - that is not the case.

“Our own findings suggest 10% are in favour of the road and 90% against.

“We believe our borough councillors have been misrepresenting us.”

The meeting is in the village hall in the High Street starting at 7.30pm. All welcome.
