Aylesford High Street will be closed for at least three weeks while traffic signals are upgraded.

The planned works for the narrow road are due to start on Monday, August 11.

The closure will be put in place between Vicarage Close and Bull Lane.

Kent County Council’s Highways and Transportation department has warned drivers the scheme will cause significant disruption.

Diversions will be advertised when the work begins.

Homeowners and businesses in the village have been plagued with carriageway issues in recent years.

The route was shut for more than four months in 2012 to fix a culvert under the road to prevent flooding, and was blocked off again last year when engineers needed to repair a gas leak.
