Police are reminding motorists not to leave valuables in unattended vehicles following a spate of suspicious incidents in the Snodland area.

there have been reports of repeated attempts to access parked cars in Wickham Road and Poynder Drive, with a man was seen trying door handles.

The suspect is alleged to have tried to access the vehicles on Monday, on the same day that sunglasses, cash and jewellery were reported stolen from a Mazda in Ashfield Close.

Sergeant Sarah Alvey, of the Tonbridge and Malling Community Safety Unit said: "As the weather continues to be warm more people will be tempted to leave open their windows and sunroofs when vehicles are left unattended. However, it takes seconds for an opportunist thief to strike and by failing to secure your vehicle properly criminals have access to easy pickings.

"We appreciate that it can be time consuming and tiring to empty a vehicle of some items of valuable equipment such as power tools, but this is simply the best way to ensure the safety of your personal property."
