Parents have been warned to keep an eye on their children after rumours a large scale fight has been organised.

Staff at the Holmesdale School issued an email to parents of pupils saying Kent Police had been alerted to rumours of a fight between young people in Medway and Snodland due to take place later.

It stated the incident is expected to happen at Neville Park, in Neville Road, Snodland

The Holmesdale School issued the email

It said: "The Holmesdale School has been made aware by Kent Police of a rumour that a large scale fight between young people from Medway (Strood) and Snodland has been organised for Friday, July 12 at Neville Park.

"We have not picked up on anything from our students and we cannot be certain that this will involve any students from the school.

"However we would recommend all parents monitor the movements of their children this evening in order to keep them safe."

The email goes on to say there will be an increased police presence at the site as a preventative measure.

It is not yet known of any other schools have issued a warning.

Police Sergeant Jon Turtle of the Tonbridge and Malling Community Safety Unit said: "Kent Police officers and PCSOs regularly liaise with schools regarding local issues that may affect young people.

"This can include discussions about crime and antisocial behaviour, and how to prevent it.

"Sometimes officers have very little information to act upon but that does not prevent them from speaking to school staff as part of their inquiries and to offer advice."
