Suspect arrested in Penshurst thanks to use of drone and police dog Ciara

Dramatic footage captured the moment a suspected drink or drug driver was caught with the help of a drone and a police dog.

Officers were called to just outside the village of Penshurst, near Tonbridge, on Friday evening (March 29).

A man had been seen in a vehicle involved in a collision on the B2027.

After being approached by two members of the public, it is claimed he assaulted one of them before running away.

Officers - including a member of the Special Constabulary Drone Team and a police dog handler - attended.

The drone managed to trace a heat signal of a person to the edge of a nearby field, and police dog Ciara and her handler were sent to the area.

It led to a 43-year-old man being arrested on suspicion of assault, driving whilst unfit and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

He has since been bailed while inquiries into the incident continue.
