Police officers are warning van owners to be extra vigilant and lock their tools away in an attempt to deter opportunist thieves.

The advice comes after three reported thefts from unattended vehicles parked near Jubilee Way, Kings Hill, between 11am and 12pm yesterday.

Items including power tools, a satnav device, sunglasses and bank cards were reported stolen while the drivers were away from their vans.

"If you are leaving your vehicle unattended make sure you lock all doors and close windows whenever you leave it. Never leave anything valuable on display.
