A driver is set to be prosecuted after being clocked doing 93mph - nearly double the limit - in West Malling.

Kent's road policing unit caught the speeder while carrying out enforcement work on the A228 near the town's railway station.

In total, action will be taken against 12 motorists on the 50mph stretch, all doing over 65mph.

Kent Police recorded the highest speed in a 70mph zone being 150mph. Picture: Matthew Walker

Officers have the option of offering a speed awareness course, or taking offenders to court.

Speeding carries a fine of up to £1,000 - £2,500 for motorway offences - and drivers can also be given penalty points, or even disqualified.
