Power cut affecting Kings Hill, Addington, Larkfield and East Malling caused by faulty cables

Nearly 3,000 homes were hit by a power cut which was said to have been caused by a faulty underground cables.

UK Power Networks (UKPN) was made aware of an outage across villages in the Malling area since 3.56pm today.

Originally, 2,966 homes were without power across 13 postcodes, including Kings Hill, Addington, Larkfield and East Malling.

By 5pm engineers from UKPN were able to remotely divert power to 2,743 homes.

The remaining 223 residencies are now being told that power should have returned as engineers have finished replacing the faulty equipment.

According to its website, at 6.05pm three homes were still yet to receive power.

If power has not returned, UKPN advises customers to call 0800 3163105.
