Customers at a Royal Mail sorting office have been waiting as long as 90 minutes to be served as queues stretch around the building.

Those hoping to collect parcels faced a long wait at the sorting office on Sortmill Road, Snodland this morning.

The service at the office has been rated 3.8 stars on Google with many positive reviews in the past.

A photo sent by a customer reportedly shows only half the queue.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: "We would like to apologise to customers who may have experienced delays when collecting items from our Medway Valley Office in Snodland.

"We have experienced a larger than normal volume of undelivered items. As such, we took the decision to extend the opening hours of the office to ensure that all customers were served today."

"It is our policy to endeavour to deliver mail to customers first time. If we are unable to do this because customers are not at home when we attempt to deliver an item that needs a signature or is too large to fit through the letterbox, we also offer alternative delivery methods."
